Activity Week Chios 2009

Και ναι!!!
Το event για το οποίο τόσο πολύ αγωνιούσαμε και ετοιμαζόμασταν, έγινε κ στέφθηκε με απόλυτη επιτυχία!!
Την Κυριακή 28/6 ESTIEMers από διάφορες τοπικές ομάδες της γειτονικής μας Τουρκίας, της Γερμανίας, της Σερβίας και της Ρουμανίας ήρθαν στο νησί μας για να συμμετάσχουν στο “Activity Week Chios 2009” !!!
Οι 15 συμμετέχοντες, οι οποίοι διαμέναν στις φοιτητικές εστίες, είχαν την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσουν το νησί της Χίου, την κουλτούρα του και την επιχειρηματικότητα του με το μοναδικό τρόπο που μόνο οι φοιτητές της ESTIEM γνωρίζουν!!!
Το πρόγραμμα, όσο αναφορά το επιμορφωτικό κομμάτι, απαρτιζόταν από επισκέψεις σε 2 μεγάλες επιχειρήσεις του νησιού, την “Νηρεύς Ιχθυοκαλλιέργειες Α.Ε.” και την “Ένωση Μαστιχοπαραγωγών Χίου Συν. Π.Ε.” οι οποίες περιείχαν ξεναγήσεις στο χώρο καθώς κ βιντεοπροβολές. Ακόμα, υπήρξε μία συνεργασία με τον σύλλογο «Αμανή19» ο οποίος είχε διοργανώσει μια πολύ όμορφη εκδρομή – περιήγηση στο Δήμο Αμανής. Επίσης, εμπεριέχονταν και 2 επισκέψεις στο αρχαιολογικό όπως και το ναυτικό μουσείο. Τέλος, υπήρξε και μία ομιλία την Τετάρτη 1/7 στο αμφιθέατρο του τμήματος Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων με θέμα «Η επιχειρηματικότητα στα νησιά και ο ρόλος του πανεπιστημίου» από τη διδάσκουσα του τμήματος «Μηχανικών Οικονομίας κ Διοίκησης» κ. Κωσταντέλλου.
Τώρα, όσο αναφορά το κομμάτι της διασκέδασης, οι φιλοξενούμενοι μας, επισκέφθηκαν τα πανέμορφα χωριά της Λαγκάδας, των Καρδαμύλων, των Μεστών και του Πυργιού. Επίσης κολύμπησαν στα νερά της παραλίας του Καρφά, της Κόμης, της Δασκαλόπετρας, του Bella Vista καθώς και αυτή στη περιοχή του Ταγματος όπου έλαβε μέρος και ένα πολύ πετυχημένο beach party με θέμα “Δεκαετίες 70-80” παρέα με πάρα πολύ ούζο!!!! Τέλος διασκέδασαν στα διάφορα μαγαζιά της προκυμαίας όπως το «Μπούρτζι», το «Avenue» καθώς και το «Satva».
Από τα σχόλια των συμμετεχόντων ο ενθουσιασμός τους για την όλη διοργάνωση του προγράμματος καθώς επίσης και για όλα όσα γνωρίζουν ήταν εμφανέστατος! Φράσεις όπως «Πολύ καλή δουλειά παιδιά!» ή «Αυτό το μέρος είναι καταπληκτικό και θα ήθελα να ζούσα εδώ!» βρίσκονταν στο καθημερινό τους λεξιλόγιο!
Ευχαριστούμε πολύ την οργανωτική επιτροπή του event αυτού και προσδοκούμε για πολλές ακόμα τέτοιες επιτυχίες!!!

CM Grenoble

CM Grenoble
Probably the most important event for our Local Group was the spring Council Meeting 2009 held from 22nd to 27th of April in Grenoble, France. Why was it so special for us? Because, there, we made our application for full members of the organization!
And we did it! Since this Council Meeting Local Group Chios is a full member of the ESTIEM!!!
But let’s put them all in an (chronological) order…
The preparation started in February and ended just before the event. Our delegates had been chosen by the members a long time ago but we still had a lot to do. All the active members took part in the preparation of the application which meant a brochure presenting our Local Group, our University, our Country and our Island. Then the two delegates had to make a PowerPoint presentation to present in front of all the participants of the event. In the Council Meeting they were anxious and worried about their performance but they were also well prepared. The day of the presentation they performed well and they made a great presentation, something that all the participants would admit. That is also proved by the result: 48 Yes, 1 no, at the voting by the General Assembly held on the last day of the event.

More about the event…
During the six days of the event the participants attended not only the General Assembly and the working groups but also the parties and the city tour. The agenda of the General Assembly was long. As observers (not full members) we didn’t have the right to vote but the most important part for us was our presentation. Some of the topics of the Working Groups that the participants attended were about fundraising, the ESTIEM Magazine, the expansion of the organization and “how to organize an event”. What we learned in these working groups will be very helpful for our Local Group, especially in organizing events, as the Activity Week Chios 2009. Every night a party was taking place in a pub or club, even in the youth hostel where we stayed in! During the city tour the participants visited “La Bastille”, which is an ancient series of fortifications. It sits on the mountainside overlooking Grenoble, and it is visible from many points in the city. The Bastille is one of Grenoble's most visited tourist attractions, and is a good vantage point for viewing the town below and the surrounding mountains. So, the participants got informed about what is going on in ESTIEM, they improved their skills, they met new people, they got new friends and they visited Grenoble as tourists!

Athens airport is an international thus tickets to and from Athens could be found via every flight company. That is up to you to choose. Cesme has connection with bus from Izmir. Izmir airport is also international so give a check if your company flies to it.

LR Forum in Dresden

Being an active member of ESTIEM, we couldn’t miss the Local Responsible Forum, where the ESTIEM spirit blossoms! Our Local Responsible, accompanied by an other member, took part in the event organized in Dresden between the 25th and 29th of March. Starting their trip from Athens, they took the plane to Prague where they stayed till the afternoon of the 25th, when they took the train to Dresden.
The next day, they took part in a very interesting workshop organized by MLP, which everyone enjoyed. During the rest of the days, they attended trainings in very interesting topics, held by other students. The object of these trainings was to help the Local Groups in fundraising, recruiting, motivation, promotion, project management and branding ESTIEM. Most of the trainings had a practical part, in which the participation of all was necessary. All the participants had the chance to discuss about the problems and specialties of their LGs.
Entertainment was a big part of the event, with parties every night, where the participants had the chance to get closer and get to know each other better. The third day, a city tour took place and then the students, separated in groups, had the experience of tasting the German cuisine by having dinner in the houses of the organizing team. The last night, everyone had the opportunity to win prizes in the casino game which took place in a student club.
The last day, after having branch all together for one last time, they said goodbye to the others and promised each other to be met another time. This event proved once more its importance for the ESTIEM!

LTC Istanbul

Looking to participate in an ESTIEM event, five of our members came across the Logistics Training Camp in Istanbul, organized by the LG Istanbul Yildiz between the 18th and 21st of December. They were excited thinking that they should participate in an interesting event and visit Istanbul, a city with rich history. So, they filled their applications which were almost immediately accepted.
Having fixed the last details of their travel, they started their trip in the 17th by taking the ferry from Chios to Cesme and then the bus to Izmir. After few hours of waiting, they had a 5.5 hour train travel till Marmaras Sea. Then, the only thing they had to do, was to cross the Sea to Istanbul. In front of Hagia Sophia, Meltem welcome and accompanied them to the hostel where they stayed at night. Finally they were in their destination, enjoying their warm beds!
Next day they moved in the hotel where they passed all the days of the Camp. During the 4-day event, the delegates came in touch with the very interesting topic of logistics. They were informed about its important role nowadays and how can it influence and coordinate the needs of the consumers in the today’s society.
Of course, apart from the educative, there was also the entertaining part. During the Camp, they met a lot of students from allover Europe, especially from Turkey. They had great fun partying with them and made new friends and also enjoyed the Turkish culture (cuisine, dance, music, etc). The last day, they had a city tour accompanied by students who guided them to many important monuments like Hagia Sophia, Sultan Ahmet Djami and Topkapi.
Our delegates finally returned in Greece in the 21st of December, having the Istanbul experience in their minds for many many weeks…
